Assyrian Fortress
The Assyrian fortress called Irbil stretches over 110 square kilometers. It is approximately 10 meters high over the level of the rest of Irbil. The legend tells that the fortress was mentioned 4,000 years ago and it was used as a temple for worshipping goddess named Ishtar.
In order to provide water to Irbil and its fortress, the Assyrian king named Sinharib built water canals.
